For some reason, many people—and many healthcare systems—view people who use methamphetamine and other stimulants as “too chaotic”. Unlike other similarly deadly medical conditions, such as coronary disease or cancer, systems of care are often not designed to deliver the treatment these individuals need.

Substance use disorders, and their treatments, do not arise in a vacuum.

The MeTH Lab — Methamphetamine Translational Health Lab — studies how neurobiology, trauma, housing instability, health systems, and access to care interact, and how these insights can inform more effective, equitable treatment.

Our research examines stimulant use disorder and related conditions through multiple lenses: neuroscience, health services, implementation, and the social structures that shape risk and recovery. We aim to build practical, scalable models of care that work in the real world.
